Schwab’s 2016 ETF Investor Survey shows that both registered investment advisers (RIAs) and ETF investors are planning to increase investments in ETFs over the next five years. The survey included results from 312 RIAs and 1,008 ETF investors.
Ninety-two percent of the RIAs reported that ETFs have had a positive impact on the way they invest. Over half increased investments in ETFs over the last year, and over 33% said they planned to increase ETF investments over the next five years. Although ETFs are popular with the RIAs participating in the survey, 56% reported that mutual funds have “an equally important role in helping their clients meet investment goals.” Of the investors participating, three out of four reported that ETFs have had a positive impact on their investments. In addition, 44% plan to increase ETF investments over the next five years.
