The PCAOB will hold a meeting on April 2 and 3 to hear further thoughts on the Board’s proposal that would require new auditing standard and related amendments that are intended to enhance the auditor’s reporting model. As we told you in August 2013, the proposal would require the auditor to convey additional “other information” to investors and other financial statement users about the audit and the auditor. The Forum filed a comment letter in December opposing the proposed changes.
Panelists at the upcoming meeting, including investors and investor advocates, senior executives and audit committee chairs of major corporations, representatives from audit firms, academicians, and other interested parties, will present their views on the proposal. The Board also will have the opportunity to question panelists as a way to supplement the written comments they have already received on the proposal.
Panelists and panel topics will be announced closer to the April meeting.
