Yesterday, the Senate confirmed SEC nominee Mary Jo White by unanimous consent. She is expected to be sworn-in as the next SEC Chair by President Obama in the near future. Last month, the Senate Banking Committee approved her nomination on a 21-1 vote.
Mary Jo White is a former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. During her nine year tenure she supervised over 200 Assistant US Attorneys in successfully prosecuting national and international matters, including complex white collar and international terrorism cases. More recently, Ms. White has spent the last decade as a litigation partner at Debevoise & Plimpton.
