SEC to Hold Roundtable on International Accounting Standards

The SEC announced last week that it will sponsor a July roundtable to discuss benefits or challenges in potentially incorporating International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) into the US financial reporting system.

The July 7 event will feature three panels discussing topics such as investor understanding of IFRS, and the potentials effect of inposing teh IFRS framework on smaller public companies and on the regulatory environment.  The panels will be comprised of  investors, smaller public companies, and regulators.  A final agenda including a list of participants and moderators will be published closer to the event date. 

The roundtable will be held in the auditorium at the SEC's Washington, DC headquarters located at 100 F Street, NE.  The roundtable will be open to the public with seating on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be available via webcast on the SEC website.
