In the latest setback to a full Commission, the Wall Street Journal reports that a democratic senator has placed a hold on the Republican nominee, Hester Peirce. According to the article, a vote of 60 senators would be required to overcome the hold, which seems unlikely before the November election. The article states that the hold followed vocal Democratic opposition to Ms. Peirce over her vocal disagreement with Dodd-Frank. In addition, the article points out that the hold makes it unlikely that Lisa Fairfax, the democratic nominee, will be considered as SEC commissioners are typically considered in pairs to maintain political balance on the commission. The Commission has been working with three Commissioners since January.
