Treasury Strategies, a consulting firm, has recently launched a free online calculator to enable corporate treasurers and others to estimate costs that could result from a floating NAV money market fund. With this calculator, investors can receive estimates on costs in business categories such as accounting, tax reporting, “investment policy development”, and others.
The SEC’s recent money market reform proposal has as one option a floating NAV approach for institutional prime money funds. Anthony Carfang, a partner at Treasury Strategies, said, “Corporations must carefully consider the implications as they assess the potential impact on their own organizations and provide comment by the SEC’s Sept. 17 deadline. The VNAV calculator is a tool to help treasurers quickly quantify the financial impact of compliance.”
